Ore searching can take hours and hopefully this ore list can help out little. For jewelry mining information visit its ore thread.

Ancient Iron Ore

Ancient Iron Ore is one of the most valuable ores found in Middle Earth due to its use in crafting of high level weapons. Ancient Iron Ore can be found in Angmar, Forochel, Misty Mountains and sometimes in the Ettenmoors (though I don't advise ore hunting in the Ettenmoors.

In the middle north area in Angmar, near and around Gath Forthnir yields the highest concentration of Ancient Iron Ore, in this particular map. Hords can be found south, east and north out of GF but note that is area is dangerous. Many Morrovals, spiders, wights and other dead things lurk around ever corner and will hinder mining efforts which extend GM crafting status.

Forochel has ore hords scattered all over the map and I have there is no one better place than another to mine. For lower levels start south of Kauppoa-Kohta that way you can aviod aggro from high level enemies that will slow the mining process. But as level increases venture all around the map because there is ore every where.

The Misty Mountains is my personal favorite place to mine Ancient Iron Ore but not all places are the same. The best place to mine ore in the Misty Mountains in the North High Pass. In the North High Pass ore spawns frequently in a specific locations every time making it easy to mine loads of ore. There are a few enemies to watch out for but nothing to dangerous and occasionally there are Beryl Shard droppers walking around for an extra bonus.

Dwarf Iron Ore

Dwarf Iron Ore is just as valuable as Ancient Iron Ore because of diversity and its importance in making Ancient Steel. The best place to farm Dwarf Iron Ore is in the Trollshaws and in Angmar.

The Trollshaws is the best place to farm Dwarf Iron Ore because it is spread out through the entire map; excluding Rivendell. To be the productive will farming search the southern part of the map from the west to the east just avoid some trails into the wolf dens and the path for Book 4 Chapter 2. By doing loops around the most of the map one can be very efficient while getting a change of scenery.

Angmar is a different story because of the level of enemies. Dwarf Iron Ore is found throughout the map primary in the southern half. The most efficient place to mine with the lowest level enemies is just north and east of East Ram Duath path. Ore spawns frequently and even by doing small loops within the area massive ore can be collected.

Rich Iron Ore

Rich Iron Ore is not nearly as valuable as the precious ores but can be found in large quantity in the North Downs and the Loan Lands. These maps are very similar with enemies and ore hordes. Just travel around the maps making giant loops is the best strategy; though most don't have a horse by these levels (unless crafting is started after level 35) so it is a lot of running versus the previous ores.

Barrow Iron Ore

Barrow Iron Ore has very little uses but can be a pain to mine. The best place to locate Barrow Iron Ore is in Breeland but more specifically in the north. Make your way to Trestlebridge stable master and from there head east out of town through a lesser known path back into Breeland. There is a hill right outside of town that spawns 4-6 Barrow Iron nodes all within a few feet of each other. Then travel south towards Bree and make the loop back up to Trestlebridge to get the maximum amount in the shortest time period.

Copper Ore

Copper can be found through out Breeland and The Shire. In Breeland search from the middle of the map to the south, west and the east. In The Shire search the entire map making big loops. It is quite abundant and is probably the best place to farm Copper Ore. This is also the best place to find its correlating ore; Tin. Tin is used as a mixing agent to make Bronze.

Coal

Coal can be purchased from Suppliers every where there is a forge. It is used in making all levels of steel: low-grade, high grade, dwarf, westernesse, elven and ancient steel.

Copper ore can also be found in the Ered Luin area, along with Tin ore, which are both needed to make the first tier of weapons and armor as well.  Great post though Biggs, very helpful to the other Weaponsmithies.

Another good place for Barrow Iron and Silver is in the North Downs. There is a secluded spot  East of Fornost, West of the River Bridge and North of the road to Esteldin. Its a valley that has a Warg Lair on a hill in the center. I make a big circuit between Fornost and the River killing for Sturdy Hide while I'm at it. Never seen another soul while farming there.
