A lot of people complain about the major lag that are in the moors. Here's some tips to make it a lot more enjoyable!
1) Under graphics tab in options, set your “Detect Optimal Settings Tab” to very low.
2) Go to adv graphics tab, and set “Object Draw Distance” (very first setting) to ultra-high. THIS IS A MUST! Or else, the creeps will be right up on you without you even realizing it. I've noticed most creeps don't put it on this setting, so it give you the advantage of seeing them before they see you!
3) Still under adv graphics tab, scroll all the way to the bottom, and you'll see a setting with a scroll-bar called “Player Crowd Quality”. Set it to absolute 0.0. It makes hardly any difference as far as graphics goes, it really helps when there's tons of creeps/freeps.
NOTE: As far as graphics goes, it's gonna look shitty compared to what your optimal settings are set at now, but it certainly takes the aggravation away when it comes to lag. But then again, maybe I've just gotten use to seeing it this way, that it doesn't even bother me. I guarantee this will eliminate your lag issues in the Moors! When your done with the Moors, simple hit “Detect Optimal Settings”, and you'll be right back to normal!
Another thing, people have a real hard time hearing people over the mic, especially those who have a crappy mic. To fix this, go into Audio tab under options, and the first set of options you see (titled Volume), turn every setting down to .10-.15, EXCEPT “VO Volume”! Note that you will most likely have to turn up your speaker volume to make up for it. Make sure that stays at 1.00. Hearing what the leaders have to say in a Raid group is one of, if not THE most important thing about being in a Raid. Once again, to return settings to default, simply hit “Default Audio” button at the bottom of Options screen. When you do this, you will have to re-enable some of the audio settings, for example “Voice Enabled”. After resetting audio to default, you MAY experience weird sound problems, or no sound at all. To fix this, simply scroll down to “Sound Playback” under the sound features section, and switch between the different options until your sound is working properly. Once more like I said, you may not even have to do this.
Here's another very handy setting: Click the “Combat Options” under options, and scroll and enable a setting called “Directional Selection Indicator”. By doing this, it will put a little dotted line under your character that points to the location of your currently selected target. This has made both PvMP, and PVE so much more helpful! Also, and this is especially helpful for hunters, turn your “Mouse Look Sensitivity” up under mouse options. I've got mine at .25, but it's all up to you. I couldn't stand having Wargs and defilers running around behind me, and with the sensitivity up, you can whip around and be pointed right at em! The sensitivity may be a little hard to adjust to at first, but trust me, it will improve your skills, just like in any game. Turn “Mouse Smoothing” all the way to 0, too. This only makes things worse in my opinion.
I hope this helps some of you guys, and forgive me for going into such great detail. I just wanted to make sure I made everything clear and not confusing in any way…Which I very well may had anyways
.
God Bless and good luck ko3a.
